To The Class of 2020

The way we work, learn, and interact may change, but the future is still so bright. I wanted to take this moment to congratulate you, the most recent graduates of our Community! This may not be the way you envisioned crossing the threshold from High School to the Future, but here we are.

When your senior year began the possibilities seemed endless, your eyes firmly fixed on what lie ahead. Then COVID-19 happened. What began as two short weeks to "flatten the curve" has turned all of our lives upside down. No more prom. No traditional graduation ceremonies. Delayed graduation parties, if at all. As things begin to open up, like the rest of us, you are adapting and focusing on your future. You have probably received information from your job, college, or university of choice highlighting the new changes in the coming months. Your career choices may also be impacted as the way we work is changing rapidly. In light of the Pandemic, some of you may even be more interested in medical careers, from nursing to research. In a sea of uncertainty, one thing remains beyond doubt: You are our future, and I am confident that you will master these challenges and lead us with the same tenacity as those who came before you.

For many of you, 2020 will mark your first time voting. Consider it a rite of passage as you vote in local, state and national elections. Some of you may have already elected to vote absentee in the August 4th Primary. You may have already received your application and sent it in. If so, your ballot will arrive by mail at the next week or so. Voting is an awesome responsibility, in both senses of the word. You are the future of our Township, State and our Nation. Your vote matters and it is important that you educate yourself on the issues and candidates in our Local Community and make decisions on who is best able to Lead.

With social distancing guidelines changing much of the way we interact, I have developed some social media pages (@DiCicco4Shelby) to interact with you as next generation voters. I want to hear your voices. You are our future, and I am here to listen.

Join me in creating a Shelby Township that matches the resilience you've demonstrated and offers jobs for you to return to with your skills or degrees in hand. My campaign for Shelby Township Trustee is focused on promoting our status as a premier community in Macomb County. Let's work together to make Shelby Township the best place to Live, Work and Play.
